.::A DRAGON OVERVIEW ::.

Ever in history there hasn't been more ink spilled out on paper than there has been on one of the largest beasts known as the dragon. A majestic and fierce beast at best and yet not all too stupid as many would come to love to think that they are. They are the creatures that are what make adventures, and then make adventures into legend, and then legend into myth. Getting information on a dragons knowledge of its secrets and such can sometimes come a price of life and limb. However this all depends on the person seeking the Knowledge and the dragon itself. Dragons have been known to be some of the very first sentiment beings ever in the universe, maybe even multi-verse. There lives somehow stretching out into millennium. With that amount of vast knowledge they seem to be able to expand into being history itself. The oldest ones are well known to be repositories of vast knowledge. They can be know for more than just being minor troublemakers, they can also be known for being sages, oracles, and even prophets. The appearance of a dragon anywhere and pertain good or ill fortune to those it comes across. Sages try to just consider them large beasts with wings and a hot breath, but they just can't compare to the wonder, magic, and abilities that dragons possess. Dragons, by nature of course, are an epic force to be reckoned with.

.::A DRAGON'S ORIGINS::.

The original origins to most mortal kind is vastly really unknown. Many have tried to pin it down. But none can ever truly grasp the origins for through the wheel of time those concepts ever evolve and change. It may be that only the heavenly or unleavened beings themselves only know the true origins of where this great beast came from. And they may also be the only ones that know there truest destinies and futures as well.

In legend the first dragons ever in existence were the Chromatic, Catastrophic, Metallic, Scourge, and Planar. Now whether these were the original five or not is up for much debate. Though this is how legend tells it by some. Also by some legend it is said that a Great deity, that by to some went by the name of Io. though deities could come by many names, had created the dragons in his form though they had no divine spark. They were in the deities eyes the epitomize version of mortal being. They grew to breath many forms of elements over time, for the fact of Chaos running through there veins. There developed minds made it so they'd be tied with the Ether itself as well.

Some parts of this same legend say that Io, or whatever one would want to call him, had been slain during the wars around the time after creation, by someone known as the King of Terror, also most possibly known by a different name. That the deity and his dragons that tried to protect him were killed. Now granted after that point it also states that in due legend that two deities both known also by many names had been either brought up out of the two slain halve of Io, or they were the children of and given the divine spark of there father. Now one in this legend was evil, which that one and her many followers became known as the Chromatic Dragons. Then the other was good, being known as the Platinum Dragon had his Metallic followers. So there were divided sides. Many others divulged further into the Chaos within becoming known as the few other branch's off. Thus creating the five.

~~~~~~~~~~
Now there is another legend, one that is very hidden and not told by many or heard from by many. A more unearthly telling of how the dragons came to be. And this one had to d with a special dragon named of course you got it by Earth terms Draco. Now this legend states that dragons came from this revered god as well, drawing his energies for all sides. He was apart of the everything and nothing at the same time. Thus being the two side cunning beast that it was. The good sided courageous of heart and the more sinister and sometimes evil cunning ways of the mind. The beings spirit being the only thing keeping the great god in balance. Now this god had seen it all, or so it thought. And so the deity finally decide that it wanted to experience mortality. And so it did. However being of both polarities made the beast still unhappy. It meant that it also had both sexes. And so it did the one thing after it returned to godlike state was to leave behind an imprint to the mortal world about its existence. Thus it created its first two children. Both holding all the attributes that only one mere dragon would have. The two could do it all, everything from the elements, to spells, to other vast knowledge, to changing into any dragon form they wanted. But unfortunately these Eternal Dragons could not stay. The Great Draco had begun to realize that there powers were just too great, and he began to fear that they would reek chaos through out the multi-verse. And so he then broke those children down into groups yet again. Thus creating the mega dragons. These dragons were of lesser stature of course. Still quite massive, but not half as powerful as there ancestors. They were more brute like, having lost much of what they had intellectually gained. They still were strong however, just not half as bright.
Then the Great Draco began to see that this was going to be a problem as well after time. That this chaotic reign could not go on. Somehow they had been to well tainted by the universal Chaos. And so the dragons had to be majorly split down again. This time he did a majorly dramatic leap in changes. Trusting that his work would be better this time. And still before the age of human kind was even still a twinkle in the universes eye. He split them down into partially what Earth see today which are the following:
  • Knucker (Draco Troglodyte)---4 legs, vestigial wings
  • Marsupial Dragon (Draco Marsupialis)---4 legs, wings, furry pouch
  • European Dragon (Draco occ. Magnus)---4 legs, full wings, dark color
  • Asian Lung (Draco orientalis)---4 legs, no wings, mane
  • Tibetan Dragon (Draco Montana)---4 legs, no wings
  • American Amphithere (Draco Americanus Tex.)---no legs, moth like wings
  • Lindworm (Draco Serpitalis)---two legs, no wings
  • Frost Dragon (Draco Maritimus)---4 legs, full wings, light color
  • Wyvern (Draco Africanus)---2 legs, full wings "largest Earth breed"
  • Mexican Amphithere (Draco Americanus Mex.)---no legs, feathery wings
Now granted these accounts may only be some of the many dragons types that are Earth bound but they are there for reference anyway.
Though in most cases the ones that were revered the most however were those that were not bound to Earth, for he began to find with the rise of human kind that that those particular dragons were to be lost forever. One mistake Draco felt in the entire multi-verse. He had seen the wreckage as it was unfolding for those poor lost dragons, who's souls had to pay with a hefty price. Most those that did survive on Earth hid. Never to be really seen ever again supposedly. Though one could never know. Though in all the realms of existence and through the times of space, the poor god had been beside himself for many years trying to rekindle the hope of his children. And so far away from those who could come to harm his beloved ones, he made a place only known to them and them alone. At least that was the hope. And he made most of them in the best look of his image as possible without over doing it like the mistakes of the past. And so he used everything he could think of. Dragons of all sizes and varieties for each element there ever was and for each style that he had ever created. With this diversity he spread his loved creations out on a planet that he made just for them. A lonely star in the dead of the night. It is said that one can see it if they look at the brightest star in the Draco range, affectionately named after Draco.
And though he had to move his beloved ones he still took much pity, though also much anger out on the mortal humans. Thus deafening and blinding them from potentially ever seeing magic again or more discerningly beings like his creations. He was one of the many gods that made mistakes and in some way rectified them. Question was, to him was there hope for reuniting. Only time to Draco could only tell.
Dragons can really in all honesty range all over the place if there not Earth bound ones that is. And this will be gone into further details on in a bit as to what many types, colors, assortments, and styles that could only be unworldly imagined. But let us now take a further in depth look into one of the many styles of what a dragon looks like from the inside out. Then we will explore into its life cycles and into the very depths of social and psychological reasoning of dragons.
.::DRACONIC PHYSIOLOGY::.
Dragons, also can be known as Wyrms, are the most potent hunters out there due to there physiology. Imagine trying to compare to that! Now that would be an over the cook cook's nest sort of idea.
~~~A DRAGON TRAITS~~~

All dragons in some way shape or form, no matter what they are share at least some similar trait. It either being physical or other. But as for the four legged style with full wings they share a high trait that is very similar, structure.

~~~THE EXTERNAL ANATOMY~~~
Dragons, by nature are both mammal and reptile. They are one of the most formittable creatures that are preditory to ever exist, besides that of the dinosaur.
SENSE ORGANS
In the center of a dragons eye, is a thin cat like pupil. However unlike that of a cat, the dragons eye expands to emmit small amounts of magic energy, thus giving it, its dark vision. Dragons do not have external ears, instead they have a mechanism inside that helps to detect sounds. The only way to tell that a dragon has these internal mechanism is through a small hole between the scales. Some dragons have frills that line around the hole making it look like an external ear, but its not really. However the frills on the ears are not nessassary. Dragons have a terrible tactile sense due to there scales and tough hide. They can sleep anywhere that can conform to there body. They split there sense of smell between its nostril passages and its tongue, however the tongue is the better of the two to use. A dragon could also through there tongue the exact ingrediants to something due to there high sense of taste.
JAWS & TEETH
A dragons jaw is like that of an alligator or Crocodile. When it clamps shut, there is no easy hope of ever getting it open. The power in the muscles of the jaws is so strong that it is just a bone crushing. The teeth inside the dragons mouth include the following: fangs, incisors, and molars. A dragons jaw also has the ability to unhinge like a snakes, thus being able to take in bigger prey sizes. There teeth comprise of mostly marrow, but it has been know that they can be made of harder substances, such as ivory. And they do loose there teeth each time they increase in size dramatically.
SPIKES, CLAWS, & HORNS
All dragons to some extent have a combination of spikes, horns, and claws. All made from similar, but not the same composition as the dragons actuall skeleton. Spikes are anchored in muscle, while horns and claws are directly connected to the skeleton itself. Some can have three claws and a semi thumb that is sort of like a humans, where as others have four. This semi thumb gives the the dragon the ability to grip objects.
SCALES
Scales can be different from dragon to dragon. The larger ones tend to overlap, while the smaller ones tend to lay side by side. Some dragons however tend to have fur. Which is rare in a breed but not impossible. Dragon hide is tough but more flexable than steel. Its also hard to make armor out of dragon scales, for dragons don't usually shed them. And a dragon wouldn't be thankful if one stole them from them. That is what dragons slayers were most after in the very old days. Dragons, if they lose scales they can regrow new ones to fill in the empty gaps.
WINGS
Dragons wings are made out of a thin membrane that stretches out over lightweight bones. It is difficult to tear through the membrane and have the dragon incapable of flight. Dragons wings can tend to heal quickly.
