The Dragons « Thread Started on Aug 26, 2008, 4:22pm »
Dragons are a race said to be extinct, having been killed by greedy people who sold them, dead or alive, to different people, butchers, clothing makers, etc. When they found less and less Dragons the price kept rising. One day found an adventurer an abandoned nest and took the eggs with him, when he walked back to his house on of the eggs hatched, but the thing didn’t run, only kept following.
The rest couldn’t be read, the ink having faded too much. We turn a few pages till we can read again.
There are a few different races of Dragons, The most know would be what most like to call the ‘Western Dragons’
The first we tell about is called the European Dragon their official name though is Draco occidentalis magnus the most remarkable features are their ability to breathe fire, arrow shaped tail, hard horns on their back and head, big bat-leathery wings, scales, poison teeth and their excellent eyes. The known colors are red, green, black; sometimes a golden sheen. They use their fire-breathing, claws, horns and teeth as weapons. They eat cows, sheep and rumors go that they sometimes even eat humans (although the Dragons that mastered human speech say that we taste very bitter and tend not to eat us) They make their nest in holes in faraway places in the mountains or by the beach, guarding their treasures. An adult easily reaches fifty feet in length, the smallest in height where recorded at twelve feet and the largest at sixteen and a half feet
The Frost Dragon although it looks almost the same to the European Dragon has differences, they tend to be a lot smaller and have a more ‘frosty’ look (maybe because that the name Frost Dragon?) Their official name is Draco occidentalis maritimus. They have a winter sleep in Antarctica and fly thousands of miles long travel two times in a year, so they could stay as long as possible in their favorite surroundings: dark and cold places. They make their nests in an op sea overlooking cave space in a ice mountain or a glacier. Adults are around the forty-four feet and reach twelve and sixteen feet in height. The most common colors are white, more unusual are white with a blue or pink undertone. They can’t breathe fire, but breathes a very cold air, that freezes instantly their prey or enemies, they also can use their tails, claws and horns. They eat giant squids, ice bears, orca’s, walruses and sea lions.
Cockatrices are a type of dragon found throughout Europe, particularly in heraldry. The cockatrice is a hybrid of a cock and a wyvern. It hatches from a nine-year old cocks egg, incubated by a toad, on a dunghill. The cockatrice is also known as the basilisk. Sometimes a basilisk will have a dragons head at the end of its tail. It's eyes are rumored to kill and one drop of its poison can kill a hundred men. Their color can be any excisting color as their skin is mostly covered with feathers
The next group are the ‘Asian Dragons’, not much is known about them as they hate to be approached by anyone, be it another animal or human. Although the biggest differences are that the Western Dragons are the bad guys and the Eastern are the good guys and are honored as they all are supposed to be.
The Asiatic Long or the Draco orientalis live always close to lakes and rivers, females always carry their egg with them and hide the pearls and opals they find or steal in their caves under water. Their nest is mostly in caves under water. An adult reaches around the forty-four feet and their height is between the twelve and sixteen feet. Their scales are one color and can be blue, black, white, red or yellow. They defend their selves with their horns, teeth and claws. They prefer to eat fish and birds (grilled swan, yummy!) their remarkable features are their long antennas, antlers like horns, manes, claws with five toes, the egg they carry in their front claw, big scales and a tail with feathers on the end. The amount of toes depend on the under races. The Chinese Long (or Emperor Long) has five toes, while the Japanese has four toes, the Indonesian has only three
The Tibetan Dragon or the Draco montanus are a lot leaner and redder than the Asiatic Long, they always can be found in high places, where they supposedly hunt for the legendary Yetis that live in the Himalaya mountains, they are well used to the thin air air and extreme cold temperatures of the high mountains. They make their nests in the summer against the mountain’s wall and in the winter in a dug out cave in the snow. They are around the forty-four feet and reaches a height of ten feet to around the twelve feet. As said before they hunt for the legendary yeti although they have to be happy with the yaks. The most recognizable thing about them is that they’re mostly always red
Nagas appear throughout the region of Mongolia. There are two main appearances of nagas. They can either be shown as serpents or as serpents with human heads. The serpent nagas can have cobra features, such as cobra hoods. The role of nagas is very variable. Some are connected with the weather or with rivers and lakes. This theme is seen in other parts of Asia. Others were guardians of treasure or palaces. They could be benevolent, offering teachings to humans. They could also be destructive, coming into conflict with the gods and killing people with their poisonous breath.
Here we will speak over the few other Dragons that don’t fit into the descriptions of the Western or Eastern Dragons
The Mexican amphitere or the Draco americanus The Mexican makes their nests in sheer collars next to lakes or on islands before the beach. An adult reaches easily fifty feet and are around the seven to ten foot high, their feathers and stomach are green while the rest is blue, the end tips of their tail feathers are yellow and some feathers around the neck are the same. The most remarkable things over them is that they have a very developed eye-sight, feathers behind the head, snake body without paws (young have weak that disappear when they grow older) Enormous wings and a tail with feathers at the end. They eat all the big animals that happen to be there; in North-America it is the Bison’s and in South-America the Lamas. They use fire-breathing, a slap with the tail and prey strangling as weapons. The Draco americanus has a North-American cousin that instead of feathers has hairs, the North-American cousin eats mostly bison’s and they thought long that it was just a big moth.
The Wyvern or the Draco africanus has in difference to other Dragons only one pair of legs. But that is enough for them to carry Elephants with them. They make their nests in shell grind, or sometimes a circle-form in a dune or on grass fields. Unlike the others they are the biggest of the Dragons with their length of around the fifty-one/five feet and their height of between the nineteen feet and around the twenty-two feet. Their colors range from dull brown to citrus yellow. They use their teeth, claws, a slap with their tail, dropping things from great heights as weapons. They eat elephants, hippopotamuses, Rhinos and other big vegetarian animals
Here we talk about the great Sea Serpents, unlike their cousins on the land they are bigger and heavier as they don't have to carry their own weight in the water
As first we talk about the Hydrarchos harlani or the great sea serpent. Like the name says they look like an overgrown snake that lives into the sea, they become 114 foot in length and weighs about 7500 pounds! If they where to come on shore they would be crushed by their own weight, they can wrap their huge body around a ship to crush it or simple use their mouth, their tail can deal great damage, their colors range from white-ish blue to dark blue
The Nova Scotia. The basic description of the creature was a long serpent with small humps or protrusions running down its back. It was said to travel by undulating up and down. It was dark in colour, usually described as black. The length was estimated at about 60-100 feet long. There were some details that observers disagreed about. A few eyewitnesses saw the humps as being a smooth serpent and the humps being where it bent. These are in the minority. Including the American sightings, some saw the humps as being more pointed. The covering of the serpent varied; some saw scales and some saw skin. The first of these sightings seems to have been in 1844. A sea serpent, matching the above description, swam past the pier at Arisaig. One of the witnesses was Mr. Barry. He was certain that the creature has humps and was undulating up and down. It was queried about whether the movement was real or a trick of the water. He firmly maintained that the serpent was undulating, having had a good amount of time to study it. Another early sighting was in 1845, at Merigomish (Gulf of St. Lawrence). One of the witnesses was sure the creature had humps and another thought it was it where it was bending. This is a good example of how people can view the same event differently. Another detail noted was a head like a seal. This is interesting as seals have been suggested as something mistaken for sea serpents. Many sightings occurred in the years after this. Some were at the coast edge and some were by ships out in the ocean.

They are big mechanical monsters, called dragons, there are unlike the others, created. They can't survive on their own and have always a 'master' somewhere that smears their joints and look out that they don't rust, owners of those robots have to look out as they tend to follow every order said, so even a spoken 'Kill yourself!' in anger will result that the being will find a way to destroy itself. They could be every length, although the biggest they ever could make was 70 foot, it's very difficult to clean him and change parts so tend to make the next 'generations' smaller and easier to clean and care for, making them a little dumber as the 70 foot one almost destroyed the planet IX because of a defect and the big mechanical 'brain' in its head
